A man from Collinsville shot and killed his son Friday after a confrontation involving a baseball bat.
The Collinsville Police Department said officers received a 911 call at 11 p.m. from a home on Raintree Trail.
The 62-year-old caller reported he had just shot his 32-year-old son.
When officers arrived, they found the son seriously injured and performed emergency treatment until EMS arrived. The son was taken to an area hospital where he died early Saturday morning.
The father told investigators his son was threatening him with a baseball bat and he had told his son several times to back away before he was shot.
Police said the father is cooperating with the investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
