TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

MoDOT said crews will be out starting very early Saturday morning to pre-treat roads ahead of a winter storm that is expected to move into the St. Louis area over the weekend.

The agency said 200 trucks will be out treating the roads ahead of during the storm.

The forecast calls for a patchy, light and spotty wintry mix to fall late Friday night through Saturday afternoon. The precipitation becomes more widespread starting Saturday evening before ending Sunday morning.

The St. Louis area is expected to mostly get sleet and freezing rain, with some snow arriving as the storm exits.

Overall, the precipitation is expected to be light.

MoDOT said it is concerned about rain possibly washing away treatment.
