ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – Several people were rescued after an apartment building caught fire in Creve Coeur late Thursday night.

When firefighters arrived at the building on Oak Forest Parkway there was heavy fire. They then rescued and assisted several people, including one resident who was taken down from the third floor using a ladder.

Three people were taken to the hospital for observation.

Investigators told News 4 it is believed a fire started in a dishwasher before spreading into a kitchen and the rest of an apartment. Only one apartment unit sustained extensive damage.

This is the second known fire at the building. In 2013 one resident and a firefighter suffered minor injuries after a man fell asleep while smoking, causing a three-alarm fire.
