SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A South County woman who was brutally attacked in Soulard a year ago is thanking the community for its support.

Rain Stippec was sitting in a car in Soulard when two gunmen fired into the car. She was shot eight times and given a five percent chance of survival.

“All of them, all my friends and family were all saying goodbye at the hospital. They came in that night to say goodbye, they thought I would not make it,” Rain said.

When she heard about the five percent odds she said brushed it off and stayed positive.

Despite being in the hospital for three months and having six bullets in her body and despite knowing she has one major surgery to go, she says it doesn’t have to as awful as all that.

“It can be a positive experience you can learn something from,” said Rain.

Rain is a dancer and has been dancing since she was a toddler, she recently took a dance lesson.
