BETHALTO, Il. (KMOV.com) -- Residents have a chance Wednesday to help Pontoon Beach officer Lee Brousseau.

Officer Brousseau was seriously injured in a crash last month and a Metro East restaurant is donating half its profits Wednesday to his family to help pay medical and other bills.

El Mezcal co-owner Jorge Aonrobona said Brousseau is a friend and their sons play baseball together.

"We really appreciate what the police officers do these days. They really risk their lives to take of everybody. I think this is a way we can support them when they are down," Aonrobona said.

If you haven't made dinner plans yet, the restaurant, located on Texas Boulevard in Bethalto, is open until 10 p.m.
