CADET, Mo.(KMOV.com) -- A Flu outbreak has forced a Washington County school district to close for the week. Kingston K-14 school district canceled classes with reports of more than 150 students and staff contracting the flu.

The school district said they are going to deeply sanitize the schools during the time off to prevent further spread of germs.

Superintendent Alex McCaul said classes are set to begin again Monday, February 12. He sent a letter home to school district parents Tuesday recommending they limit their child's exposure to the virus and anyone with flu symptoms.

School officials said they want to provide students and staff with the flu enough time to recover and get well.
