WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Washington, Mo. gymnastics coach is facing charges for allegedly molesting several young gymnasts.

David Schneider is charged with three counts of child molestation.

Washington police say they received a complaint about a female gymnast being inappropriately touched. When they investigated, they say they identified six victims.

He has been a youth coach for 15 years volunteering the Four Rivers Family YMCA, and volunteered at the Kids in Motion gym for three years. Piper Hoemann, the owner of Kids in Motion, said Schneider was never alone so any alleged inappropriate contact with kids had to have happened in front of everyone.

Laurie McTearnen oversees the child care services at the YMCA. She says there were no complaints from kids or parents about Schneider at the YMCA. However, they are still taking action. "Any time there's an allegation that's made, we automatically will prohibit staff or volunteer from entering the Y premises," said McTearnen. She hopes this incident encourages more people to speak up about behavior that may seem odd, so that it can be addressed immediately. "I think we have a real opportunity, and I'm a mom of two girls, to have those crucial conversations with our kids to say what's happening out there to be able to identify and prevent abuse," said McTearnen.

Police believe Schneider molested victims between 2011-2014. Authorities say he has had admitted to inappropriately touching the gymnasts while they were stretching in their private areas. Court documents said Schneider said the touching was accidental. He said his hands would slip during the stretches cause the girl's would be sweaty.

Three unidentified girls came forward to speak out against the former coach.

Schneider is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond but his attorneys requested a lower bond.
