Camouflage-wearing man assaults woman during home invasion, police say

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A search for a man dressed head-to-toe in camouflage accused of assaulting a woman in Crawford County prompted schools to go on lockdown Tuesday.

The Bourbon Police department canvassed the area near a residence where a woman was reportedly assaulted.

Authorities said a man dressed in full camouflage clothing, carrying a black backpack forced his way into her home and assaulted her. The victim was transported to a local hospital and released shortly after.

Officers from Bourbon Police, Crawford County Sheriff's Dept, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cuba Police and Sullivan Police attempted to locate the suspect which caused nearby schools to go on lockdown for several hours.

The Crawford County R-1 School District said police told them to keep all children inside and secure the doors, as a precaution.

Police are asking anyone with information of this incident or knowledge of persons matching the suspect descriptions, to contact local law enforcement.
