ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Authorities have identified the man who was found dead after firefighters extinguished a blaze in St. Louis’ Botanical Heights neighborhood Tuesday morning

St. Louis firefighters were called to the 4300 block of Lafayette after a heavy fire was reported on the second floor of a vacant building around 10 a.m.

Firefighters had to break through boarded-up doors to gain access to the home.

After extinguishing the fire, 56-year-old Lamont Hill, of the 4400 block of Shaw, was found dead inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hill's cause of death is currently unknown but foul play is not suspected.

Investigators are working to determine what started the fire.
