MoDOT: Icy conditions pose threat to Monday rush hour

ST. LOUIS -- Officials from the Missouri Department of Transportation are warning rush-hour commuters to be alert to changing weather conditions Monday.

Freezing drizzle and light snow are expected to hit the area around 4:00 p.m. Monday. MoDOT officials said that if commuters can leave work early, they should.

"This is an icing event. Conditions will change quickly," said James Kramper with the National Weather Service Monday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for a large portion of the KMOV viewing area. A light glaze of ice and 1/2 inch of snow are possible from 4 p.m. to midnight.

MoDOT said they will have crews on the road all afternoon and evening.
