ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Spending in the City of St. Louis will soon go under the microscope.

Aldermen made that request earlier in January for an audit, and Aldermanic President Lewis Reed confirmed Tuesday State Auditor Nicole Galloway agreed.

"This audit will help us by increasing accountability,” Reed said, adding the goal is to help the city “operate more efficiently."

The audit will begin in the next few weeks and the city will pay for the cost, which is expected to be about $2 million.
