ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Louis native and rapper Nelly is fighting back in the courtroom against allegations he raped a fan on his tour bus and sexually assaulted two other fans in England after performances.

Nelly denies the allegations of rape and sexual assault. He has now filed a countersuit.

“He believes and we believe the evidence will be that these will be false claims,” said the rapper’s attorney Scott Rosenblum.

Court documents said a woman who was 21-years-old at the time said Nelly raped her on his tour bus in October 2017 after a show in Seattle.

The documents also state that two unnamed women were sexually assaulted by the rapper after separate performances in England.

Nelly denies all of the allegations.

His attorney said the England accounts are “factually impossible”.

“In those instances, he was with his girlfriend, the entire time,” said Rosenblum.

Rosenblum said other motives exist and Nelly takes the claims personally, especially in the wake of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements supporting women speaking out against sexual harassment and inequality.

“He’s very sensitive to real victims, to women that have been victimized and marginalized and he believes when someone comes forward and jumps on, it can cause that movement to lose credibility,” said Rosenblum.

The Seattle woman’s attorney Karen Koehler told the Associated Press that, “he's got a career to save but my job is to make sure that he doesn't try to save his career at the expense of an innocent young woman,” Koehler said.

The now 22-year-old woman is suing the performer for unspecified damages.

Nelly wants a public apology.

Criminal charges against Nelly were never filed after prosecutors said in December 2017 that the accuser wouldn’t assist with the case.

The next court date is set for April.
