ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A former Park Hills youth pastor was charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a girl at their church, according to St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives interviewed a girl, less than 17 years old, on Dec. 15 who admitted to having a sexual relationship with Brian Cassidy, 33, of Park Hills.

The Daily Journal of Park Hills reports that during the interview, the girl said she had sexual intercourse with Cassidy on two separate occasions and he touched her inappropriately on a regular basis.

According to authorities, the incidents started shortly after the victim’s 13th birthday and initially took place at the First Baptist Church in East Boone Terre where Cassidy worked. The victim said the pair met up a second time in a field near her home in St. Genevieve County, Mo.

Detectives retrieved several text messages from the victim’s phone where Cassidy made numerous statements referencing their sexual activities, police said.

Cassidy is facing felony charges of statutory rape in the first degree and of child molestation in the first degree.

Cassidy is being held in the St. Francois County Jail on a $150,000 bond
