ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A phone call might lead some to believe Congresswoman Ann Wagner is running for U.S. Senate.

Many Missouri residents say they recently received an automated call asking them if they would support Wagner or incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill in the upcoming race for U.S. Senate.

Many of the calls occurred Wednesday night between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

In 2017, Wagner announced she wouldn’t challenge McCaskill, saying she would focus on her congressional seat.

The McCaskill campaign told News 4 it is not behind the robocalls, the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (RSCC) and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) both say the same.

Wagner’s Congressional campaign office also said it is not behind the call.

Behind the scenes, people associated with the Wagner and McCaskill campaigns are pointing fingers at each other.

When you call the number behind the calls, you get a busy signal.
