ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Democratic Sen. Jamilah Nasheed announced Thursday that she will be running for president for the St. Louis Board of Alderman.

Sen. Nasheed made the announcement in a video she released discussing the need for growth and development in the city of St. Louis.

“Threats of gun violence, lack of opportunity and the Delmar Divide are the reality for far too many. But, by working together, we can fix those issued and create solutions for everyone,” said Nasheed.

Current Aldermanic President Lewis Reed announced he will also be running for re-election.

Sen. Nasheed represents the fifth district in the Missouri Senate and formerly served in the Missouri House of Representatives.
