NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

MSD says crews are repairing a sewer main break that occurred near Jamestown Mall on Wednesday.

The break was noticed an MSD construction inspector who was inspecting the main.

The utility says the break is causing an overflow of sewage into Coldwater Creek. As a result, MSD has shut down the nearby pump station, located  3/4 of mile west of the Highway 367 bridge that goes over the creek.

Areas possibly affected include:

  • Coldwater Creek immediately south of Silver Fox Drive in Unincorporated St. Louis County
  • Coldwater Creek immediately north of Verwood Drive and Fox Haven Drive in Unincorporated St. Louis County
  • Coldwater Creek northwest of the MO-367 bridge, including trails that run along the creek near Fort Belle Fontaine County Park.
  • Other portions of Coldwater Creek downstream (east and northeast) of the pump station.

MSD says sewer service to homes and businesses is not affected and added there is no immediate threat to public health.  However, if someone comes in contact with the affected water, MSD says they should wash their hands with soap and water.
