GODFREY. Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Pearl Street in Godfrey late Tuesday night for a blaze that broke out in an attic of a home that was built in the early 19th century.

The Godfrey fire department, with assistance from the Fosterburg fire department, were able to have the flames under control within about 20 minutes of arriving at the scene.

According to Fire Chief Erik Kambarian, this is one of the oldest homes still standing in Godfrey. It is believed that the home was built sometime in the 1820s.

Luckily, firefighters were able to keep the fire damage to a minimum and they believe the home is repairable.
