SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

A south St. Louis school is celebrating its different approach to education.

The Tower Grove Christian Academy has a 99 percent graduation rate and residents in the area say the school is a hidden gem in the Shaw neighborhood.

Ninety-five percent of the students go off to college after high school.

Administrators say they pride themselves on character development and their melting pot of a student body.

Students have “bible teachers” who talk about their life experiences.

“We want to change the city of St. Louis to educate families. We believe once we educate families work on their character they will go off to college, but they will migrate back into the city and the city will change,” said Michael Gregory, head of school.

Gregory says he knows every student by name. The school starts at pre-K to 12th grade.
