O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Road improvements are coming to O'Fallon, Missouri as that city copes with exploding growth.

O'Fallon is now the second largest city in the St. Louis area, nearly doubling its population in the past 25 years to 86,000 people.

And one place where the growth is rapid is along Bryan Road, where residential construction is rapid.

Later this week, city leaders will consider money for designs on a diverging diamond.

Diverging diamond interchanges are still relatively new ways to move traffic.  The first one was built in Springfield, Mo. in 2009.

Later this year MoDOT will begin work to change the interchanges in O'Fallon along I-70 at Highway K and TR Hughes.
