SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

Two Tower Grove South families woke up to find big damage to their cars after a hit-and-run crash.

A surveillance camera caught the driver smashing into the red truck parked along Connecticut Street

The driver then stopped before taking off. The truck hit the mini-van parked behind it.

“I kind of couldn’t believe it,” said Carolyn Holman, who owns the mini-van. She thinks there could be $1,000 worth of damage.

The video was shared on social media and Holman filed a police report hoping the video would be key in finding the driver.

“I’d hope someone would come forward and say, ‘hey I did this’,” said Holman.

Holman got her response and a bit of her faith in humanity restored when a friend of the driver showed up to her home to say the driver wanted to make things right.

Holman says she spoke with the driver later that afternoon saying the driver sounded very remorseful, apologizing for taking off, saying the morning’s slick roads caused her SUV to slide off into the cars and that she’d panicked and taken off.

Holman says the driver offered up her insurance information and is hoping to settle the matter.
