FENTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Anna Rose, a 14-year-old from Fenton, was drafted to the Maryville University co-ed swim team Saturday.

Anna has cerebral palsy, and she is already a swimmer with the Disabled Athlete Sports Association.

She will now join Maryville's team for practices, tournaments and dinners as a teammate.

The family says they are grateful for this opportunity for their daughter.

"I think it's really going to give her a lot of confidence," Anna's mother Stephanie Rose said.

Anna's draft day and celebration is part of an effort by "Team Impact," a nonprofit organization that helps kids facing serious chronic illnesses connect with college athletes.
