Man arrested after leading police on 59-mile police chase

WARREN COUNTY, Mo., (KMOV.com) – A man is in custody after leading troopers on a 59-mile police chase and admitting to be on drugs Saturday afternoon.

Police said an officer attempted to pull over a white Dodge Charger on Interstate eastbound I-70 near the 168 mile marker. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the suspect fled the scene leading police on pursuit.

The car reached up to 100 mph passing through Montgomery County.

Officers, with the help of Missouri State Highway Patrol, deployed spike stripes twice to end the pursuit. The vehicle caught two flat tires and exited off at Zumbhel Rd where he was taken into custody.

As officers were arresting him, the man admitted to being on an undisclosed controlled substances, police say.

The driver was transported to St. Johns East hospital for treatment and released into custody of the Warren County Jail.

No one was injured and there were no other cars involved

    It’s been a rough few weeks for those who help abandoned, neglected or lost animals. Earlier this month there were two separate incidents in which SUVs were stolen from those trying to help animals and just last Friday, a truck belonging to Stray Rescue was stolen.
