NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

Thieves after heating units have targeted another church in North City.

The theft occurred two miles from Mount Chapel Baptist Church, which was recently the victim of a similar theft. This time, thieves hit three heating units.

A high power above did not matter to the person who stole from Faith United Assembly of the Living God.

"They had to come off the alley over here. See where the gate is,” said Bishop H. L. Fitzpatrick.

Bishop Fitzpatrick showed News 4 where thieves vandalized not one, not two, but three of the church’s heating units.

"We help pay bills. We help people keep on their electricity and all of that. It is heart-wrenching when you do outreach in the community and this is the result we get,” added Bishop Fitzpatrick.

The thieves gutted two and spared one.

Bishop Fitzpatrick sees what’s left as a cry for help.

"It's not going to stop us. I am going to still find ways to reach out to the community. Maybe this will stop,” added Bishop Fitzpatrick.

The church leader told St. Louis Police about the crime. He wants the thieves to know something, too.

"It's sad you would cause a few thousand dollars of damage for a few dollars of whatever you need it for. Sometimes, you have not because you ask not,” added Bishop Fitzpatrick.

Bishop Fitzpatrick is thankful thieves spared one of the heating units as it provides a little heat to warm the 50-year-old church. The church leader is hoping insurance will cover the cost of replacing the units.
