St. Louis Fire Department investigators are looking into what caused a fire at the Aldi supermarket on South Grand.

The fire broke out at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The store has to be evacuated after smoke filled the supermarket.

Investigators are looking into whether someone intentionally started the fire.

Fire officials say the fire may have been started by someone flicking a cigarette near paper.

A store security guard was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

There were no other injuries reported.
