ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com / AP) -- Amazon has narrowed its list for their much anticipated ‘HQ2’ from 238 cities to the final 20.

St. Louis is not one of the finalists.

St. Louis' pitch, which included a possible joint bid with Kansas City, was submitted to the company last fall. Kansas City is also not a finalist for Amazon's second headquarters.

The 20 cities still in the running for the new headquarters are as follows:

  • Atlanta
  • Austin
  • Boston
  • Chicago
  • Columbus
  • Dallas
  • Denver
  • Indianapolis
  • Los Angeles
  • Miami
  • Montgomery County, Maryland
  • Nashville
  • Newark
  • New York City
  • Northern Virginia
  • Philadelphia
  • Pittsburgh
  • Raleigh
  • Toronto
  • Washington, D.C.

Amazon, based in Seattle, plans to invest $5 billion in the new headquarters and could employ as many as 50,000 people in and around the city it chooses.  Amazon.com Inc. said it will make a final selection sometime this year.
