EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com)-- Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner reacted today to the reported scandal surrounding Missouri Governor Eric Greitens.

Rauner made a short stop in Edwardsville to talk with small business owners about lower taxes.

Last fall, Gov. Greitens appeared in a commercial with other Midwestern republican governors mocking Illinois  Dem. Speaker Mike Madigan for helping their states. The ad was taken out of circulation last week, just as the story of Greiten's infidelity surfaced along with allegations he had threatened to release a compromising photo of a woman.

"The allegations are very serious," Rauner says.

The Illinois Governor refused to say whether he thought Governor Greitens should resign.

"There is an investigation underway and I do hope they get to the truth in that situation very quickly."
