ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- The ex-husband of the woman who is alleged to have had an affair with Missouri Governor Eric Greitens has handed over more secret recordings to the local prosecutors and the FBI, his attorney Al Watkins told News 4 Tuesday.

News 4 previously reported the man secretly recorded his then-wife discussing her sexual encounter with Greitens in 2015.

Watkins didn't say what was on those tapes, but said the FBI has expressed interest in obtaining them. The tapes were also provided to the Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner's office.

Watkins didn't say how many recordings there were, but said they amount to “hours” of audio. He says the records are between the woman and her now-ex-husband. Watkins says the tapes further add to information about the affair but “don’t add anything” to other allegations, including blackmail.

In a recording obtained by News 4, a woman says she had a sexual encounter with Gov. Greitens and that he tried to blackmail her to keep the encounter quiet. The woman said Greitens photographed her nude and threatened to release the images to the public if she ever spoke out about their relationship.

The details were provided to News 4 by the woman’s ex-husband, claiming a sexual relationship happened between his now ex-wife and Greitens in March 2015. According to the ex-husband, the recording was made just days after Greitens’ and the woman’s first sexual encounter. He also alleged that Greitens took a photograph during the encounter to use as “blackmail” according to the ex-husband.

In a statement posted to Facebook Tuesday, Greitens said he made a “personal mistake” and says he is sorry for the pain it caused for his family, friends and others. He has denied any criminal wrongdoing, saying “much has now been written about this, and many of the assertions made have not been truthful and have proven extremely hurtful to Sheena, as well as to me.”
