Mobile resident, Larry Henriksen, is eager to catch the person responsible for stealing packages in the Oak Pointe neighborhood.
"My daughter called me and told me she was expecting a package at the house. They said it was delivered but it wasn't there," Henriksen said.
With a fairly new surveillance system set in place, Henriksen went straight to video to find out what happened to a gift his daughter purchased online a few days before Christmas.
Henriksen said, "My first thing was to look at the cameras on the porch. I saw the UPS person dropping the package off and within minutes I see another individual kind of sneaking up to the porch, grab it, and then take off running."
Another camera angle shows the suspect hesitantly walking up the driveway at first, but then darting away seconds later.
"Fortunately, the other packages were safe, the ones we had gotten earlier in the season. But it's just the idea of them taking something that's not theirs," Henriksen said.
Eager to catch the porch thief, Henriksen reported the crime to local police and posted pictures of the suspect on an app called Neighborhood. Seven homeowners within a one-mile radius responded to his post, claiming the same man stole packages from their doorstep as well.
Henriksen said, "The cost on the item was minor. But it's the fact that they're getting away with it. The new wave of shopping is porch shopping."
FOX 10 News reached out to Mobile Police for an update on this investigation but have not heard of any arrest so far.
