ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A St. Louis man is ecstatic about the holidays because he’ll hear Christmas carols like never before.

Justin Winters has been legally deaf since he was 18-months-old and received his second cochlear implant at St.Luke’s hospital Thursday.

The device was surgically implanted after Winters used hearing aids for over 30 years.

“I am looking forward to Christmas morning when my kids are opening presents and I’m going to hear all that wrapping paper, it’ll be like opening a bag of potato chips,” said Winters.

Winters says it’s amazing what some people take for granted.
