FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A firefighter and a police officer were taken to the hospital after battling a fire in Ferguson overnight.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 400 block of South Dade Street after it caught fire around 2 a.m. Monday. The home was vacant at the time of the blaze because it was reportedly in the middle of being remodeled.

The injured first responders are expected to be released from the hospital Monday morning.

Officials said it is being called a “suspicious fire” and the bomb and arson squad is investigating the cause.
