Delays and problems still plague Missouri auto inspections

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Nearly six months after new auto emissions equipment was introduced in Missouri, there are still problems with the computer system at some St. Louis area auto repair shops.

"The equipment they gave us just doesn't work," says Dan Slape of Rasch Service Center in Kirkwood.

Slape says the new tablets and two printers with the new system frequently have trouble communicating and sometimes freeze up.

Worldwide Environmental of Brea, California won the new contract to supply emissions testing equipment in Missouri.

The company supplies testing equipment to 11 states and 12 countries.

A company official says the problems in Missouri have to do with operators using the wrong routers on the tablets they provide.

Worldwide is currently installing a fix on all the equipment they have in the St. Louis area.
