EUREKA, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Jefferson County deputy was caught off-guard when he responded to a security alarm going off at a Eureka home.

Tony Allen, the owner of the home, was able to communicate with the officer through the home security system while Allen was on vacation in South Carolina.

The officer was surprised and confused when Allen was able to talk to him 1,300 miles away.

The two were able to laugh about the situation once the officer was able to confirm that the house was safe.

The Sheriff's office tells us a motion sensor alarm was set off after something fell from a storage shelf.
