COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The Collinsville Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Walgreens.

Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to an armed robbery call at 401 Beltline Rd.

An investigation revealed a man entered the store, pulled his coat over his face, and approached the cash register to purchase a pack of cigarettes.

The suspect pulled out a grey handgun and demanded money from the register. Once the drawer was open, the suspect grabbed the money from the register and fled the area in a White Chevrolet Venture.

Police say the suspect headed westbound on Beltline Rd with an undetermined amount of cash.

Authorities describe the suspect as a black man in his mid-30’s, about 5-7 – 5’9 and is approximately 170 pounds.

The suspect was wearing a dark colored coat and red Chicago Bulls skull cap.

After revealing surveillance footage captured on Thursday and Friday, Police believe the suspect is a frequent customer at this specific Walgreens.

This investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Keith Jackson at 618-344-2131 ext. 5291 or CrimeStoppers.
