A fire broke out at a four unit apartment complex in South St. Louis Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived to the complex on Russell Boulevard to hear that one person was trapped in one of the upstairs apartments.
They were able to save the man who was trapped. He was taken to the hospital with some burns.
Firefighters say a dog was not able to be rescued and did pass away.
Two of the four families are already back in their apartments in the complex.
