ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt visited a military aerospace company in St. Charles to explain his support for the Senate tax bill.

"The first and quickest thing to do is see you have more take-home pay," Blunt told a group of workers at Patriot Mechanics in St. Charles.

Blunt says he'd like the tax cuts to individuals to be permanent but the 60 votes needed in the Senate are not there.

When asked about the controversies surrounding Sen. Al Franken and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, Blunt said he's not calling for them to step down.

"At the end of the day, Alabama voters and Minnesota voters are probably in the best position who they want to hire and who they want to continue to hire than the people in the Senate."
