ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Ponchos came in handy for Volunteer Build Day at the Biome School on Saturday.

An outdoor learning center is being built at the charter school, which is located on Olive in St. Louis.

Volunteers helped spread mulch and lay stones. The volunteers hope their work makes an impact on the students there.

“It's showing we can work together to get things done for the community, and its important period, that these kids can become good citizens,” said Claude Brown with the Royal Vagabonds.

There will be another volunteer day in early spring to plant around the playground.
