GLEN CARBON, Il. (KMOV.com) -- Metro East residents could see their water look different than usual.

News 4 has gotten reports from several people, including an elementary school in Glen Carbon, about a change in the water’s appearance.

Crews say they're working to replace a water main along West Main Street.

The change in color happened as crews checked the water pressure.

Officials tell us it's common for minerals to get mixed in the water during those checks and that it is not harmful to drink.

Crews suggest you simply let the water run until it clears up. If residents still notice a difference, they are urged to call public works.

The work is expected to last through the next three weeks.
