SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been testing the debris from Wednesday's warehouse fire in South St. Louis.

The City of St. Louis Health Department said the laboratory results are scheduled to be available in time to be reported Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Shaw Neighborhood Association meeting. The meeting will be held at the Missouri School for the Blind at 3815 Magnolia Ave.

"We're only looking for asbestos at this time," said Heath Smith of the EPA.

The testing is being done at the request of Missouri and St. Louis environmental officials. Smith said there is no immediate danger as long as the burned debris is not disturbed.

"On the ground, any of this litter that came from the fire is on the ground, is not necessarily an air hazard. The only time it's an issue is if it were picked up or handled," Smith said.
