ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A Southwest Airlines pilot arrested Wednesday at St. Louis Lambert Airport will not be criminally charged.

The pilot was arrested when a TSA agent found a gun in their carry-on baggage, a Lambert spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the pilot did not declare he had a 9mm handgun in his carry on bag, as is required, ahead of the screening process.

The St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office said Friday they cannot prove the pilot knowingly carried the firearm into the secure area. He is still subject to FAA regulations.

The pilot was scheduled to be flying from St. Louis to Las Vegas early Wednesday.

In response, Southwest issued the following statement:

We are aware of a situation involving a Southwest Pilot at St. Louis Airport. We are currently working alongside the appropriate authorities to gather more information.  We have no further information to share at this time.

No other information was made immediately available.
