NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An investigation is underway after police say a teenager stabbed a security guard working in north St. Louis on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of Aubert, according to police. Authorities say a 54-year-old man was working at the shopping plaza when he heard loud noises coming from the north end of the building.

The guard went to investigate the noise when he saw a boy between the age of 14 or 15 who was about to throw a brick at the building.

Police say the guard confronted the boy who then pulled out a knife and stabbed the guard in the stomach before running off.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
