ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A haunted house helped to raise money for the ‘”Adopt A Family Foundation.”

Brian Niehaus offered free admission to the haunted house he created in his yard and garage on Spotted Fawn Court. He asked only for donations for the foundation, which helps needy families during the holiday season.

“With lots of prayer and brainstorming, I figured I could combine my passion for Halloween with my passion for helping people,” he said.

The haunted house was open for two nights with a goal of raising $1,500 but when it was all said and done, Niehaus collected $2,730!

“It’s huge that we can just do so much for those families, and when we see those families and bring in what we got for them they’re astounded,” said Debbie Johnson, Niehaus’ teacher at St. Dominic’s High School.

The money will go towards groceries and Christmas presents the families otherwise might not have gotten.

“It’s such an amazing, rewarding feeling to know that seven families’ Christmases are gonna be better in 2017,” Niehaus said.
