ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A woman was injured after a reported carjacking in Clayton led to a police chase from Jennings to north St. Louis overnight.

Around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday at Halls Ferry Circle, officers from the City of Jennings Precinct spotted a black 2013 Lexus that was reported stolen out of Clayton on Nov. 6. The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but after the stolen vehicle failed to stop, officers pursued it.

After a 10 minute pursuit, the stolen Lexus crashed into a red Chrysler that was being driven by a woman at Penrose and Warne in north St. Louis. The woman was injured in the crashed.

The woman had to be cut out of the car and was taken to a hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, authorities said.

After hitting the woman’s car, the stolen vehicle crashed into another car and then a building.

“This don’t make no damn sense, they just come down here doing [expletive],” said Jennifer, whose car was damaged. “He done stole a Lexus then came down here. Three guns in the [expletive] car, you done tore my [expletive] up and three more cars. Where you going to go? This is crazy! What they going to do with his [expletive].”

A 28-year-old suspect, Lamar Bowens, was taken into custody after attempting to run from officers. At one point, police say he reached for a holster on his hip, but the holster was empty. The suspect claimed to suffer from minor injuries, police said.

Bowens is charged with armed criminal action and robbery.

A second suspect is still on the loose. He is described as being between 18 and 20 years old with a noticeable limp.

Two firearms were recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
