ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Twelve miles of new walking and biking trails are coming to the St. Louis area.

Trailnet, a bicycling organization of St. Louis, announced the plans today but is still working out exact destinations for the trails.

Major hot spots the group wants to involve include Forest Park, downtown St. Louis and Tower Grove Park.

The goal of the project is to connect north and south St. Louis. The trails are not expected to be finished until 2030, but Trailnet hopes to have three miles completed of one trail by the end of next year.

The total cost of the project is expected to be $88 million.
