ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A group of south St. Louis teachers are in a tough spot after falling victim to thieves.
Nine teachers' cars were broken into about 10 a.m. on October 26 Thursday at Shenandoah Elementary School in Fox Park.
A food service worker interrupted the crime or else more cars may have been vandalized.
While the teachers suffered the damage, their first concern was the students.
“We love these kids and they love us,” said teacher Sherry Dempsey. “We don't want them to come to school and worry about that stuff. It’s sad that this happened and it's making them think that they're not in a safe place.”
The school district will reimburse the teachers up to $500 but many can't afford the full amount of repairs.
