HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- David Richard had been working as an assistant football coach and hall safety monitor at Hazelwood West High School when some students discovered some music videos he was in.
The videos, which are five years old, show Richard appearing to drink and smoke pot as well take part in racy interactions with two bikini-clad women in a hot tub.
The students eventually told their parents, who went to the school district with the information.
Richard lost his job, but the district would not give specifics on the matter. The only thing they did release was a statement that their guidelines state an employee’s personal website or page should not harm their “ability to function professionally and effectively.”
A petition was started to fight for Richard’s job, and has gained nearly 1,000 signatures. Many people online have spoken out about Richard’s mentorship, with some calling him a father figure.
The district has not commented on what will happen in light of the petition. Richard was not available for comment Thursday.
