CLAYTON (KMOV.com) -

Administrators at a Clayton middle school are using early dismissal days to offer students a chance to learn practical skills.

Students at Wydown Middle School are now participating in what the school calls "pursuit days." For example, on one pursuit day, the students learned the ins and outs of bicycle mechanics, including riding. The students even got to spend time with Olympic athletes Lou Vitucci and John Carenza.

On early dismissal days, students can sign up for instruction in fields outside the normal school schedule, like bicycle mechanics.

The classes are led by middle school faculty and cover nearly 50 different subjects.
