ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A 19-year-old Illinois man is hospitalized with a concussion after he was struck in a hit-and-run accident in a downtown St. Louis parking garage.

Justin Johansen is listed in fair condition at Saint Louis University Hospital with bleeding on the brain and a broken tibia. Jessica Wyatt told News 4 that her son was with Johansen at the time of the accident.

"His head was the first thing to hit the pavement because of the wrenching of his body and he fell straight on the right side of his head," said Wyatt.

According to police, the accident happened Saturday night around 10:45 on the 8th floor of the Kiener East parking garage at 6th and Pine.

Wyatt said Johansen, her son and two friends were walking to their car after skateboarding downtown, when a black Chrysler 300 driving at a high rate, rounded a corner and struck the teen.

"He was having seizures, he was out for a while. It's pretty bad," said Wyatt.

St. Louis Police told News 4 the driver ran from the scene but has been identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
