EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Police said two juvenile suspects were taken into custody following a crash and carjacking in the Metro East Saturday evening.

Authorities said two male suspects, ages 16 and 17, carjacked a 38-year-old woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Walmart in Belleville. The victim was not injured.

Belleville Police began the chase after they received a call for an armed carjacking at a Walmart in Belleville. A Belleville patrol officer located the vehicle, the victim's silver 2007 Honda Civic, heading eastbound on Route 15 and attempted to stop it. The suspects continued to flee from officers, authorities said.

Illinois State Police assisted with the chase that ended at 18th and Missouri in East St. Louis where the stolen vehicle crashed.

ISP attempted to arrest the driver but police say the driver was combative with two Illinois State Troopers.

Two of those troopers were able to gain control of the driver and used a taser on him.

The two suspects were taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police said a BB gun was found at the scene. The suspects were treated and taken into police custody.

Police have no released the suspects names at this time.
