ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Within the past few weeks, the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen have proposed conflicting resolutions. But at their meeting Friday, both Alderman Joe Vaccaro and Alderman John Collins-Muhammad stressed the importance of moving forward for the sake of St. Louis.

After the not-guilty verdict was announced for former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley in the fatal shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, Collins-Muhammad introduced a resolution honoring the memory of Smith. The measure passed unanimously by voice acclamation Sept. 22.

Vaccaro introduced a resolution Oct. 17 to praise police officers' response to protests over the verdict. Both the revised version and the original resolution were voted down.

The two have now discussed setting aside their differences.
