(CNN) -- White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday there is no recording of President Donald Trump's call with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, who was among the four soldiers killed in Niger.

Asked if there was a recording of the call, Sanders said: "No."

"No, but there were several people in the room from the administration that were on the call, including the chief of staff, John Kelly," Sanders said.

Florida Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson told reporters Tuesday night that Trump told Johnson's widow that "he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt."

Trump tweeted in response on Wednesday morning: "Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!"
